August fun awaits in Beaver County & a little beyond

Several big car cruises, numerous outdoor live concerts and artsy events abound in the Beaver Valley.

This month marks the opening of Big Knob Grange Fair, and now we've got two dueling Italian festivals on the same weekend in Center Township.

After a two-year absence, the Beaver Wine Festival returns, while Pittsburgh's top beer festival, Barrel & Flow, moves to a new location in the city's Strip District.

Here's a calendar to help you pick your August fun.

*Beaver County Symphonic Wind Ensemble, 6:30 p.m. Lincoln Park Alumni Hall patio, LincolnPark Performing Arts Center, Midland. If rains, moves inside Alumni Hall.

*New Sewickley Township National Night Out, 5-9 p.m., Green Valley Park, a celebration of community with free children's activities and food trucks.

*Wander Ellwood City Open Street Night, 5:30 p.m. includes music from The D-Tour Band.

*Eldorado Band, 7 p.m. at Cranberry Community Park, Ernie Mashuda Drive, Cranberry Township.

*Sounds of Pittsburgh Chorus and The Cranberry Men’s Chorus, 7 p.m. Moon Park Amphitheater.

*Giada Jams benefit show, 3-11 p.m. with live music from Billy The Kid, Dan Bubien, Ill Willis, 65 Rats, Concrete Soul and five more bands, Thursdays tavern, Bridgewater. Raises money for 12-year-old Giada Montini who has a rare form of cancer.

*Hot Summer Nights Car Cruise, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. downtown Beaver.

*Conway Community Day from noon until fireworks, with food vendors, crafts, bingo and music by The Project Band, Conway Volunteer Fire Department Banquet Hall.

*The Myasthenia Gravis Association of Western Pa's second annual Golf Outing to benefit the organization’s free patient support services, Grassy Lanes Golf Club in Darlington. Registration/check-in at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start at 2 p.m.  Attendees treated to a grilled lunch during registration and a buffet dinner catered by Beyond Parsley Catering.
